In part one of our guide, we looked at the sign up options and account settings on the Enhancv platform. But once you set-up your account in our resume builder, what do
you do next? Where can you find everything you need to create a resume employers thrive for?
Menu Functions – left hand side menu
Now, when you’re logged into your account, you can start setting the layout of your resume. For that, all you need is in the toolkit on the left. Don’t forget that the availability of the elements in this menu depends on the Plan you signed up for. Check out what Plans we offer here.
Let’s assume that you’re using our Pro plan which gives you access to all of the amazing functions and features that we offer.
At the top-left, there is the View All Resumes button which allows you to look through all resumes you’ve crafted so far. Right under it, find the Download button.
The undo button which allows you to delete your latest changes and redo button that will let you go back in case you deleted something by mistake is placed above the resume you’re crafting.
1) Adding new sections
The first layout of your resume after you sign up is designed by our team in order to give you an idea what are the best sections you should consider including in your resume. You can, however, decide that for yourself. Use the Add New Section button to choose which ones are most suitable for you.
Sections that appear grayed out have already been added to your current resume. In case you’re using a trial account or the basic one, sections you can’t use will have a padlock icon next to them. You can preview them by clicking on the padlock icon. In case you’re not sure what to write in each section, you can view examples by clicking on the eye icon next to each section.
2) Rearranging sections
After you’ve added all the sections you need, you may not like the way you’ve arranged them. By using the Rearrange Sections button you can change their position easily. A small window will pop up showing the whole layout of your resume. You can drag and drop your sections or add new ones.
3) Improving the content on your resume
When the toggle Show Mistakes is on, our Content Analyzer will indicate possible mistakes that you’ve made while crafting your resume. They’re all real-time suggestions which help you to write your resume in the way employers want to receive it.
4) Finished with your resume? Collect your friend’s feedback!
The Collect Friends Feedback represents one of our newest features. You can ask your trusted friends or tutors for feedback on your resume by sending them a unique link to it, created after you click on the Ask Now button. For your friends, giving feedback will be as easy as leaving sticky notes around.
You can view the feedback and correct your resume all in one tab opened. No need to download, print or attach anymore. Once they left their feedback, just enable the Show Feedback toggle and the notes will appear. You’ll also get a notification in your profile on the platform, as well as an email notification, so you know right away when there’s something new.
5) Pick template
There are 3 main templates you can use. The Double column, which is the top choice amongst our customers. There is also Single column – it allows you to opt for a more traditional looking resume if space is not a concern. The third option is our newest, Compact layout which allows you to fit more information on one page by reducing the font sizes and some spaces. It also hides your photo and icons but you can bring them back from their respective sections.
6) Customizing the look of your resume
There are 9 fonts you can choose from. You can change the font of the headlines only, the text inside the boxes stays the same (Roboto). It is because we want to ensure your resume is easy to read and its format is consistent and neat.
Our platform gives you the option to choose from 24 color combinations. All of them were carefully hand-picked to enable you to show your personality, while still keeping them as pleasing and aesthetic as possible.
Also, there is a choice of 18 background patterns on the Enhancv platform to give your resume an even better look.
7) Removing the Enhancv branding
Some users want to remove Enhancv’s branding that appears in both bottom corners on a resume. Click on the toggle Remove Branding to hide it.
8) Tips and Examples
To help you succeed in crafting a superhuman resume, our platform offers you Tips and Examples throughout the process of writing. They appear in a bar on the left-hand side after you start filling each section in. This way you never run out of inspiration.
9) Adding a new resume into your account
Creating multiple resumes is available to Pro users ONLY.
After you log in, at the top right, you can see the + New Resume button. Click on it and a new resume will appear. If you’d like to go back to the previous resume, click on the View All Resumes button (top left corner). Then you can click through your resumes, change their titles, duplicate, download or delete them. From there, you can also create a unique link to your resume in order to share it or Ask for Feedback.
10) Customer Support
If you need further assistance, use the button in the bottom right corner. There, you can find frequently asked questions and answers or contact our friendly support team.
